Magnificent, impressive and full of emotions!
That is what the audience felt when attending the music night of The Wall Unplugged – The rain of the ages ( or “The rain in May” ), on the evening of October 27, 2024 at Ho Guom Opera House, Hanoi.
In the historic music night marking the 29th anniversary of The Wall Band, Green Wind Choir performed in 5 acts, contributing to an unforgettable live show of the legendary rock band.
The Wall Band has made a remarkable impact on generations of music lovers in Vietnam, with 7 studio albums and numerous explosive nationwide tours and live shows. In 2016, Tran Lap, the band’s iconic leader, lead vocalist, and songwriter, passed away, leaving a significant void in The Wall’s presence after 21 years together. To both the band and its devoted fans, Tran Lap remains the eternal soul and a source of inspiration in this journey that was never an easy path.

“The rain of the ages ( or “The rain in May” ) – This piece can be seen as a reflection on past experiences, symbolizing both the showers of youth and the most intense storms one has faced. It epitomizes the musical style that The Wall will perform in this concert and is the only collaborative composition between Tran Tuan Hung and Tran Lap. Unplugged – This show concept embraces raw, acoustic instruments, from Guitar Acoustic, Piano, Jazz drums, to strings, bringing a fresh and emotive arrangement to 29 of The Wall’s best songs, all set in the beautiful Ho Guom Opera House. Here, The Wall will recount their incredible 29-year journey.

Over the past 8 years, The Wall has gradually made its way back to music with relentless effort and creativity. Following the success of their Vol 6 album, “The Nameless Road” in November 2020, they released their seventh album, “Balance”, in April 2023, earning acclaim from both critics and fans. Alongside releasing new music, they have performed in numerous solo concerts, drawing tens of thousands of fans and participating in major music events. Recognized with nominations for the Contribution Award 2020 and praised by Billboard magazine in May 2021, The Wall continues to reinvent itself and embrace new challenges.
